Trekking Region

Everest

Among numerous permitted trekking peaks, Mera peak is the highest peak climbing in Nepal with the elevation of 6,476m/ 21,247ft. Erected in the east of Mt. Everest in Khumbu region, Mera peak contains three summits: Mera Peak North (6,476m/ 21,247ft), Mera Peak Central and Mera Peak South (6,065m/ 19,898ft). Out of these three summits, Mera Peak North has glaciers in the route and South side is technically demanding; therefore, we prefer Mera Peak Central (6,461m/ 21,190ft) for our expedition. It is one of the scenically elegant peaks of Mahalangur range which offers the stupendous view of sparkling peaks including 5 out of 6 world’s highest peak in Nepal: Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Makalu and Kanchenjunga.

Mera Peak Climbing commences from Kathmandu to Lukla with 30-40 minutes of scenic turbulent mountain flight. After landing at Lukla, the trails trace the untouched and natural villages of Hinku Valley. There are two different trekking trails from Lukla to the Mera Peak; but we march towards Chuthanga which is less traveled trails of Mera Peak Trail. The 17 days Mera peak expedition follows through rivers and frozen streams; Zatrawala Pass; dense fir, pine and rhododendron forest; terraced green paddy fields; glaciers and traditional villages. At first, the journey descends through the villages: Chhuthang, Zatrawala pass and Thuli Kharka; then inclines uphill tracing Kothe, Thangnak and Khare before landing at Mera Base Camp (5,300m/ 17,388ft). The final expedition from Base Camp to summit is challenging and strenuous due to thin air, steep ridge and cold temperature. The top of the peak is a serene point from where we can perceive scenic landscape and panoramic view of coruscating peaks: Nuptse, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Mt. Everest, Cho-Oyu and numerous other peaks.

Mera Peak Climbing package is specially tailored by Mountain Magic Treks as recommended by the experts. Mountaineering is absolutely challenging than trekking; so, we have added plenty of acclimatization and short day trek to avoid AMS or any hazard. To make the trekking expedition moderate and comfortable, we have hired the experienced guides who support and provide proper guidance needed for mountaineering. We have preferred safer and less-crowded trekking trails; safer and technically easier summit and best season for expedition. Throughout the expedition, we shelter at tea house up-to Khare; but at Base camp and High camp, we take shelter in camp. Mera Peak Climbing is the package for novice mountaineers and experienced trekkers who prefer venturing the summit to keep lifelong memory.

FAQs

Where is my peak

Mera Peak (6476 m) is claimed to be the highest trekking peak located in Mahalangur section of Nepal's Everest region, Solukhumbu District and Makalu Barun National Park. It is located east of the main Everest massif in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas.

What are my peak peak days

Summit day is the main day of your Mera Peak Climbing. Obviously it will be a tough, challenging, long day and equally rewarding day. We start the climb early in the morning, say 2 or 3 am depending on the mountain conditions. Generally, the climb takes about 10-14 hours depending on the climber.

How difficult and technical is Mera Peak

Although Mera Peak is at an altitude of 6476m, it is a straightforward climb involving glacier trekking and only a basic level of mountaineering skills is required. It is a peak of less technical difficulty but leads to a steep long climb to reach the summit and walking and climbing leads to moraine-snow-snow and glaciers where caution should be exercised while descending.
Climbers should be mentally prepared to face tough conditions at high altitude and should do their best to reach high camp (summit night) in good physical condition.

When is the best time for Mera Peak Climbing in Nepal

The best time to climb Mera Peak is during Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May). Winter climbing is also possible.

What are the different ways to reach my peak

The different routes to mine peak are listed below:

Mera Summit Route 1: Via Javtra La Pass (4610m)

Mera Chuchuro Ascent Route 2: Paiya-Pangom-Ramailo via Mt

Mera Shikhar Arohan Route 3: Cholem Khark – Khola Khark – Via Five Ponds

How many nights will I spend in a tent during my peak climb

Before reaching Mera peak we spend one night at base camp and another night at high camp. We will return to Khare that night. We will have a reserved day due to bad weather or any other reason. In this case we will spend another night in the High Camp.

Any tips on how my peak climbers can maximize their chances of success

Acclimatization is key. We recommend taking plenty of time on the trail. Before you start your trek training back home, we recommend strength and endurance, physical training, multi-day trekking experience and we recommend previous trekking experience above 4000m for Mera Peak. The right gear and equipment is also essential.  With this said, we will provide the best possible logistics and support during your journey, with our experienced, competent and friendly Sherpa guides always there to give you the maximum opportunities to reach the summit.

Do you provide trekking gear and equipment for my peak climbing

We provide the personal gear needed during my peak climbing. We can recommend some good stores where you can rent or buy good down jackets or sleeping bags.

How big will my climbing group size be

We mainly focus on small groups. We take up to 10 trekkers in a group so that we can provide individual care to each of our members. If you have a group of more than 10, please contact us for amazing group discounts and customized services.

Do I need a climbing permit to climb Mera Peak? If yes, who arranges the climbing permit

A climbing permit for trekking peaks is a legal document issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) that authorizes a mountaineer to attempt a climb on a designated peak or route. Yes, a climbing permit is mandatory for Mera Shikhar. Climbing permit is included in the package cost and we will arrange climbing permit and transport service.

Is travel insurance required for Mera Peak Climbing

A big one! Mountain Magic Treks recommends that you have adequate insurance coverage to visit this remote area. Travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation, injury, lost luggage, liability, and medical treatment is recommended. The insurance should cover all activities during your stay in Nepal. Mountain Magic Treks Pvt. Ltd can arrange appropriate medical response based on your policy.

Do I have to join a group or can I ride alone

There is no need to join a group or set a departure date to climb the 6000m peak in Nepal. We always try to be flexible with our trips for the convenience of our guests. We are open to making changes to the itinerary as long as the proposed itinerary or suggestions do not harm your own chances of success.

Private or solo trips are possible but a bit more expensive than joining on a fixed date. We recommend hiring a reputable guide service for a safe and secure climbing experience. With Mountain Magic Treks, there is no need to worry if you want to do a private solo trip or join a departure date.
We employ local professional guides, porters etc who you can trust with your life as they are highly experienced and give your safety first priority.

Can I hire only guide and porter from you for my peak climbing

Yes, you can hire trekking and climbing guide and porter services from us. We can offer customized services of guides, porters, domestic flights and documents.

What kind of food can I expect on my Peak Climb

Food can be one of the major highlights during your trek. Food around the mountains includes a carbohydrate-rich diet because our bodies do not process fats and proteins efficiently at high altitudes and involve climbing at high altitudes to compensate for the increase in calories.

We try to make meals and snacks as varied and simple as possible. Common meals include rice, noodles, pasta, potato dishes, as well as vegetable and egg dishes.

Lunch will also include a cooked meal. Above base camp, climbing food consists mainly of dry food such as pasta or rice. Generally, you will have dinner and breakfast at the overnight lodge and lunch will be at the teahouses along the way.

Is bathing during the trek healthy / safe

You can get hot shower services throughout my peak journey. However, the higher you climb, the less fun it becomes. It is better to be on the safe side of things and we recommend you shower regularly when you are above 3000m. Hot water also refers to a bucket of hot water that is not an actual bath.

How can I communicate if there is an emergency during my climb

Most of the villages on the Mera Peak Trail will have internet facilities at the teahouses. You need to purchase internet recharge cards. Internet speed will be very basic. You can also buy Nepali SIM cards (NCEL or NTC) but their coverage will be limited. And our climbing guides will also carry a satellite phone for emergencies at minimal cost.

How much will I spend per day on my peak trekking trail

You won't spend much on the trail as your trip cost includes accommodation costs and 3 meals a day when booking Annapurna Foothills. USD 20 to 30 (NRS 2000-3000) per person per day will be enough as you will have to pay personally for items like drinks, cold and hot drinks, charging electronic devices, Wi-Fi, hot shower in tea houses.

What is the maximum baggage limit for Porter and Lukla flights

Baggage limit for porter is around 25 kg. We will provide one porter for two trekkers during the trip. Porters are the staff who not only carry your luggage but also lift your spirits to reach new heights and your affection and generosity can be the reason they work hard to get you to your destination.

Lukla flight weight limit is 10 kg. Additional accessories may be charged at additional cost.

In case of bad weather, what options do we have

If our domestic flights to or from Lukla are canceled due to bad weather, we will have two main options;

Reschedule your flight for the next day. Additional expenses like accommodation, food etc. need to be paid by the guests.

Another option would be a helicopter flight which would be more expensive than a regular flight. Cost will depend on availability, number of members and baggage weight.

What is the Leave No Trace policy when climbing my peaks

We value and operate eco-friendly tours and are highly committed to leaving no trace. Our guides and staff are well aware of their responsibility towards the environment. Burnable waste is sorted and burnt and recyclable waste is brought to Lukla and handed over to the Everest Pollution Control Committee (SPCC).

Why should I visit Nepal to climb a 6000m peak

Nepal should be at the top of your bucket list for trekking and climbing adventures. Also for 6000m peak climbing, Nepal has 1400 trekking peaks above 6000m and 14,8000m in the world.

Rich diversity of flora and fauna, scenic views, hospitality of Nepalese locals, favorable weather and geographical conditions, rich cultural spirit representing a unique blend of Buddhism and Hinduism, it is fair to call your mountaineering ambition. Reached a new height in Nepal.

Why should I choose my trip with Mountain Magic Treks

We are not only a local operator based in Nepal but our Sherpa trekking guides are experienced, skilled, professional and all of them have high altitude experience including Mt Everest and other 8000 meters in Himalayas of Nepal.
Our guides in the Himalayas are provided with satellite phone communication which allows us to maintain excellent emergency contact capabilities and keep your friends and family informed of our progress during long weeks away from home. We focus on safety, quality and value for money by providing the best equipment, gear and logistics you need for your trip, something that many low cost programs don't offer.

What if I have to leave the campaign early

Well, it depends on the types of emergencies you are going through. If you have to leave the expedition due to ill health or serious injuries, we will immediately arrange an emergency air rescue to fly you from the mountains to Kathmandu for medical treatment. Make sure your insurance covers high altitude mountain search and rescue.
If you are able to walk down, one of the assistant guides will guide you to a lower altitude where you can wait for the rest of the team or fly to Kathmandu ahead of the group.

If you leave the expedition early, we commit to paying the porters and guides for the duration of the trip for which they were hired. So, no refund will be given for unused days for your trip. We can provide something complementary depending on the cases.

What is your cancellation policy regarding my peak climbs

Regarding cancellation, if a guest voluntarily or involuntarily terminates/cancels the trip once the trip has started, no refund will be given for the missed or unused services of the trip due to illness, or any other unfortunate events.

If any guest wishes to cancel their trip prior to their departure for any reason, the guest must send us a written request two weeks prior to the travel start date. If the cancellation is made outside the time limit, a fee of USD 200 per person will be charged. As per our company policy, the deposit is non-refundable and can be used with a time limit of one year from the date of travel confirmation.

Trek Safety in Nepal

Your safety is our top priority:

Trek  safety in Nepal is at the top of any agenda when planning any adventure trekking and climbing trip in the Himalayas. All our tour leaders and trek guides are medically trained, experienced, working for us permanently. Every year, they refresh the training and update their skills in wilderness first aid training as part of trekking safety in Nepal. They are experts in dealing with any issues that may arise on any trip to ensure you all have a safe and perfect Himalayan adventure. You can have full confidence in our expertise and knowledge. Your safety is a top priority when trekking or trekking in Nepal. We carry a comprehensive medical kit with a portable altitude chamber (hyperbolic bag) or oxygen on every high altitude trek and climbing trip in the Himalayas.

We plan adventure travel trips so that safety and comfort are not compromised. Acute mountain sickness, also known as AMS, can be a life-threatening problem while trekking at high altitudes in the Himalayas. Our responsible trekker retention policy: A porter adds a layer of security to your Nepal trek provided there is enough trek team. Of course, our porters carry less weight and they are ready to help anywhere in the high Himalayan adventure.

One of our customer feedback on AMS

I want to thank everyone at Mountain Magic Treks for the excellent service you gave me and friend on our recent Mera Peak Climbing. As you know I experienced a several case of high altitude cerebral edema at Gorak Shep and had to be put in a portable altitude oxygen chamber for several hours before descending the next morning.
The quick action of the trek leader and other Mountain Magic Treks staff probably saved my life. They are all a credit to your company. I would have no hesitation in using Mountain Magic again on any future trip to Nepal - perhaps with the help of Diamox I would do a full day ascent of Mera Peak Climbing.

Lau Chi Ling, Hong Kong
Mera Peak Climbing 2016

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

This acute mountain sickness can be a major safety issue if not taken care of on time during a Himalayan adventure. Basically, AMS occurs when our body fails to adapt to the reduced amount of oxygen available at high altitude as we climb above 2500 meters. Mountain Magic Treks itineraries are professionally designed to minimize the effects of altitude sickness. Comprehensive medical kits are carried on all our trips to ensure trekking safety in Nepal. Also, a portable altitude chamber (a life-saving device in case of AMS) is carried as a precaution during high altitude trekking and climbing expeditions. All our group leaders/guides are well trained in Wilderness First Aid Course. They are able to recognize any symptoms and act accordingly. However, we recommend that you seek advice from your travel physician or health advisor beforehand. By keeping a close eye on AMS and traveling with a medically trained guide, we can minimize the risks and safety issues of AMS.

This is how we ensure trekking safety on your once-in-a-lifetime Nepal adventure.

  • Prevention of acute mountain sickness (AMS).
  • Allow enough time for acclimatization (after 3000m).
  • Don't rush or go too far too fast.
  • Avoid alcohol, sleeping pills and smoking.
  • Drink 3 to 4 liters more fluids a day, clean water - boiled or treated / tea / coffee / soup / juice, etc.
  • Climb higher and sleep less.
  • Do not trek/travel alone, take a guide/porter.
  • Follow the advice of your group leader and guides.
  • Reduce if mild symptoms worsen rapidly.
  • Never leave a sick person alone or fall.
  • Avoid catching cold.

AMS is common above 3000 meters and presents in the following ways:

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is the most common and is not life-threatening.
HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema) is a life-threatening disease that can result from AMS.
HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) is a life-threatening disease; It can occur on its own or with AMS or HACE.
AMS symptoms and signs should be expected but not alarming
Headache (usually worse for throbbing, bending, or lying down), plus one or more of the following symptoms:
Fatigue, weakness.
Dizziness, headache.
Loss of appetite, nausea (or vomiting).

Treatment

Rest (do little exertion if possible) at the same (or lower) altitude until symptoms clear (up to 4 days)
Drink enough to keep your urine pale and plentiful.
Use ibuprofen or paracetamol for headaches.
Consider Diamox (125 to 250 mg 12-hourly) for 3 days, or for the remaining time at elevation if symptoms return.
Consider Stemetil (or other anti-emetic) for persistent nausea/vomiting. omnia, disturbed sleep, frequent awakenings.
If AMS symptoms are severe, give oxygen (1 to 2 L/min) or use a pressure bag until symptoms clear.
Check the victim regularly for signs of HAPE and HACE, especially at night.
If AMS symptoms do not improve or worsen, descend far enough to clear symptoms (at least 500m/1640ft).

Facts on HAPE and HACE

  • HACE or HAPE occurs in about 1 to 2% of people who travel to high altitudes.

  • HAPE and HACE can occur alone or together.

  • HAPE is about twice as common as HACE.

  • HAPE causes more deaths than HACE.

  • HAPE can appear without any prior symptoms of AMS.

  • People with colds or chest infections are more likely to develop HAPE.

  • HAPE usually occurs after a second night spent at high altitude.

  • HAPE can also develop after descending from high altitude.
  • HACE usually develops after the onset of symptoms of AMS and often worsens rapidly at night.
  • HACE may develop into later stages of HAPE.
  • HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema)
  • Symptoms of HACE are caused by an accumulation of fluid in or around the brain. Usually the signs and symptoms of AMS worsen and HACE develops. Anyone with HAPE can develop HACE.

Symptoms and signs

Severe headache, which often feels worse when lying down and is not relieved by ibuprofen, paracetamol, or aspirin.
Fatigue, severe fatigue.
Nausea or vomiting can be severe and persistent.
Loss of coordination, disorientation. The victim may need help with simple tasks such as tying shoelaces or packing a bag.
They can't do nose-to-finger tests.
To fall, to fall. They cannot perform the walk test or stand test.
Blurred or double vision, seeing halos around objects.
Loss of mental abilities such as memory. They cannot perform a simple mental arithmetic test.
Delusion, illusion.
Behavioral changes (aggression, depression, etc.)
Drowsiness, difficulty waking, coma, death

Test for HACE

Heel-to-toe walking test: The victim is asked to take 10 small steps with the heel of one foot resting on the toe of the other foot. Proper level ground is essential and the victim should not be supported.
Standing test: The victim stands with eyes closed, feet together and arms at sides.  Finger-nose test: With eyes closed, the victim alternates repeatedly and rapidly between touching the tip of his nose with his finger and then extending this hand to point into the distance (a useful test if the victim is in a sleeping bag).
Mental Arithmetic Test: Give the victim a mental arithmetic test, eg. 100 to 7, 93 to 7, and so on (but remember that some people can be poor at arithmetic even at sea level).  If the victim cannot perform any of the above tests easily (or refuses to cooperate), or shows more wobbles or falls during the first two tests (be prepared to catch the victim if!), assume they are suffering from HACE. . If in doubt about the victim's performance, compare with a healthy person. Be prepared to repeat these tests.

How to treat (instructions)

Descend immediately (immediate descent will begin to reverse symptoms). Descend as low as possible, at least 1000 meters / 3280 feet. Descend if necessary at night or in bad weather. Carry the victim if possible, as the exertion of walking can make the illness worse. If landing is not immediately possible (such as hazardous terrain or weather, not enough helpers, or while waiting for a helicopter), the use of oxygen or PAC and appropriate medications will keep the person alive until a descent is possible.
Give oxygen:

A) from a bottle using a mask (2 to 4 L/min), or
B) Using a pressure bag (this is equivalent to about 2 to 4 L of oxygen/min).
Note:
If both oxygen and a pressure bag are available, administer oxygen while preparing the bag and after the victim is out of the bag. Do not give oxygen inside the bag unless it is designed for this purpose and you have been trained to do so.

Administer medication:

A) 8 mg of dexamethasone at once (by mouth, IV, or IM) followed by 4 mg 6-hourly. Dexamethasone takes several hours to work. Stop it once below 2500m/8200ft AND after at least 3 days of treatment by tailing off the dose slowly (give the last 3 doses 12-hourly)
B) Diamox 250 mg 8 to12-hourly
C) Treat persistent vomiting with anti-vomiting medication
Prop the victim up in a semi-reclining position as lying down flat may make their condition worse
Avoid even the slightest exertion if this is possible. Even walking a few steps may make their symptoms worse or reappear. Do not leave the victim alone.
If a person is turning blue or is falling into unconsciousness, give them rescue breathing before they stop breathing.
HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema)
Symptoms of HAPE are due to the accumulation of fluid in or around the lungs. It may appear on its own without any preceding symptoms of AMS (this happens in about 50% of cases), or it may develop at the same time as AMS. HAPE can easily be mistaken for a chest infection or asthma: if in doubt treat for both.

Possible Signs and Symptoms

A reduction in physical performance (tiredness, severe fatigue) and a dry cough are often the earliest signs that HAPE is developing.
Breathlessness. In the early stages of HAPE, this may mean just taking a bit longer to get one breath back on resting after mild exercise. Later on, there is a marked breathlessness with mild exercise. Finally, breathlessness occurs at rest. Record the respiratory rate (NB: At 6000m/19700ft, class="normal" acclimatized respiration rate is up to 20 breaths per minute).
The dry cough may later become wet with frothy sputum, which may be bloodstained (pink or rust-colored). This is a serious sign.
Wet sounds in the lungs when breathing in deeply (place your ear on the bare skin of the victim back below the shoulder blades; compare with a healthy person). Note: There may be NO wet sounds in even quite severe HAPE: this is called dry HAPE.
There may be mild fever up to 38.5 C, a sense of inner cold, pains in the chest.
Blueness or darkness of face, lips, tongue, or nails due to lack of oxygen in the blood (cyanosis).
Drowsiness, difficulty waking up, coma, death.
Treatment Guidelines

Same general treatment as for HACE, EXCEPT:

Use oxygen or the PAC and appropriate medications will keep the person alive until descent can be undertaken Give medications:
A) Nifedipine. This should only be used if bottled oxygen or a pressure chamber is not available and the victim is warm and well hydrated. Give the modified release (MR) form of the tablets (20 mg 12-hourly for 2 or 3 days). If a fall in blood pressure occurs due to nifedipine (pallor, weak rapid pulse, dizziness on standing), treat as a shock
B) Diamox 250 mg 8 to 12-hourly
C) An asthma reliever spray (2 puffs 4-hourly) may help.

Physical fitness for the trek

Although physical fitness and trek preparation are an important part of any outdoor activity, you don't need to be an athlete or a marathon runner to enjoy a trek in Nepal. Most people with good fitness for their age can complete our trek. Trekking in Nepal is a walking holiday at your own pace, enjoying the Himalayan vistas and its stark cultural contrast.

Most first-time hikers worry that they won't keep up but quickly discover that a steady pace will get them to their destination sooner than they expect. These treks are not running competitions but walking holidays for people of all ages. However, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy it, and you will have enough energy for extra activities.

Fitness for Nepal Tour: Aerobics, Hiking, Cycling, Running, Tai Chi, etc

Nepal trek preparation has three basic components – aerobic, strength and mental. Aerobic conditioning is important mainly because you will be trekking in thin air, 40% below sea level. With good aerobic conditioning, you will be able to better metabolize the available oxygen.
You should plan to do aerobics for at least an hour 3/4 times a week for 1 month or more before coming to Nepal. Walking, running, cycling, hiking the valley floor and a day back at ridgeline climbing are some great forms of exercise, as long as you're strengthening leg muscles and building stamina. Speed is not the essence; Endurance, confidence and persistence.

Rather than being long, gradual ascent paths, most Himalayan trails point almost straight up, requiring a lot of effort, and especially when descending, a lot of concentration. Many people think that the biggest challenge while trekking in the highest mountains is going up, but the biggest problem is coming down. Tai Chi can be an excellent trek preparation exercise as it not only focuses on strengthening the quads muscles of the legs but also on balanced weightless light and safe stepping techniques.

Physical and mental preparation is required to enjoy it

Many hikers who are well prepared in all other areas often neglect mental preparation. Although trekking requires a lot of physical effort, something that can be tolerated as the only means of seeing remote parts of Nepal, it can be a very enjoyable exercise in itself.  Trekking in the Himalayas is a relatively safe activity and accidents or problems are usually minor. However, unpleasant things can happen on a long trek so physical fitness and mental preparation are essential on the trek. You may have mild illness, not sleep well, in general, find the pace of trekking too fast or too slow, some parts of your trek may have annoying or stressful things.

Before setting out on a hiking adventure, think of travel as more than just a quest to reach a destination. Try to imagine your trip as an opportunity to experience whatever is an essential part of the journey. It doesn't really matter whether you actually reach Everest Base Camp or any other destination.

You should be prepared to find joy and fulfillment in all moments of your trip, including the lesser pleasures that you did not expect. Good physical conditioning along with a very positive mindset on your journey will ensure that you are ready to experience all the wonders of the Nepal Himalayas. Hence, Nepal Trek physical fitness is essential to stay alive and enjoy the adventure.

Trekking season in Nepal

Nepal trekking can be done all year round. There are four trekking season in Nepal. Each season has a different attraction to offer. Trekking seasons in the Himalayas are classified as follows:
Best time for trekking in Nepal
AUTUMN (September - November):
Autumn is considered to be the best time for trekking in Nepal, offering great weather and breathtaking views of the mountains. Moderate temperatures, clear skies with great views, it's a great time to do any of our treks.  Sometimes short storms can dump snow at higher elevations. You can choose any adventure trips in Himalayas from trekking in Nepal to trekking in Nepal this autumn season. Amadabalam expedition and climbing of Manaslu climb are excellent during this autumn.

Winter (December - February):
This season is noted for occasional snowfall in the higher altitudes of the Himalayas. Although it gets cooler at night, it usually offers daytime/blue skies and relatively fewer trekkers on the trail. However, we need to be selective in choosing a winter trek as climbing and high pass travel will not be an ideal option. Everest Base Camp Trek, Annapurna Panorama Trek, Annapurna Dhaulagiri Trek, Annapurna Century Trek, Everest Panorama Trek etc. Nepal Trek can also be done in winter.

Spring (March-May):

Various species of wildflowers, especially rhododendrons, make the hills a ghostly paradise this spring. It is mildly warm at lower altitudes and at higher altitudes the mountain views are excellent and the temperature is quite moderate. Spring is the best time to climb Mount Everest in the Himalayas. You can choose from over 100 adventure trekking and climbing trips this season for the adventure of a lifetime.

Summer (June-August):

Summer from June to mid-September makes the trip cool and warm. These times are blessed for the keen botanist as the high valleys and meadows bloom with flowers and lush vegetation. Northern regions of Himalayas like Upper Mustang trek and Dolpo trek in rain-shadow (places are away from the reach of rain clouds due to high mountains) can be an ideal trek selection in this summer season in Himalayas.

Trekking and Climbing Equipment for Mera Peak

Climbing a Himalayan peak is no joke. Careful and thorough planning is essential if you want to reach the top of the peak and return to safe ground. If you are planning a trekking adventure in Nepal then having a complete packing list for summit climbing will help you in many ways. The right equipment and appropriate gear are essential to the success of your climbing adventure.

Peaks ranging from 5,800 meters to 6,584 meters in height in Nepal are designated as trekking peaks. The time taken to reach the summit of these peaks is very short. You camp for just one or two nights at the base or high camp and descend to a nearby village or settlement after reaching the summit. But even if the climbing days are very short, it's important to scale the mountain using high-quality gear and equipment.

We believe that a ready packing list for trekking in Nepal will be useful and save you time and energy, especially if you are a novice climber. We have compiled a comprehensive list of gear and equipment to ensure you don't miss out on the essentials for your trekking adventure in Nepal.

However, please note that this is a tentative list and you may not need all of the items listed below. Packing for your trip should take into account the time (season) and duration of your adventure, weather, differences in altitude and your personal needs.

Doing a little research on your own for daily temperatures and weather patterns while creating your personal packing list will help you in many ways. This will save you a lot of space in your luggage and additional baggage fees.
Your porter will carry your luggage but you must carry a day-pack (with your valuables or anything important) yourself. While climbing, all heavy camping gear and equipment (tents, ropes, food supplies, utensils, etc.) will be carried by the Sherpas. You carry your camera, lunch and other items in a lightweight day-pack.

Before heading to the mountains, you can leave your extra luggage at your hotel. Every hotel in Kathmandu offers locked storage which is completely secure and free of charge. But make sure you lock your stuff before leaving it in storage.
